We at Signfirm pride ourselves on the quality of our roller banners that we custom print for you, our valued customer. The quality of the roller banner's print is only part of the picture though. In order to ensure that you get exactly what you're after it' important to use the right tools. An excellent tool for producing quality roller banners is Adobe Illustrator. In this segment we will take you through how to set it up to ensure you provide great artwork everytime for your design.
Fire up Illustrator on your PC or Mac. We will use examples from Windows but the Mac is broadly the same. Create a New Document
You will now see a dialogue box similar to the one above. For this example, we're creating artwork for a roller banner with dimensions of 800mm wide by 2000mm high. These are the standard sized for our roller banner so creating a document of this size will perfectly match the printed version of the roller banner you will order. For our full range of roller banners and sizing (including extra wide roller banners), please take a look at our Roller Banner collection. As our printer prints right up to the edges of the banner, bleed can safely be left at 0mm all round.
Click OK and you will now be presented will a full blank document, ready for artwork. Once you've placed your artwork and are satisfied with the result, it's best to create a copy to send to us in PDF format.
Creating the PDF
Click File > Save As. First save the artwork in standard Illustrator (ai) format so you have a full backup of your work. Then save the file again with the File > Save As command and choose PDF and click Save. You will now see the Save Adobe PDF box.
In order to save the PDF correctly (and guarantee the highest quality print possible), in the drop down Adobe PDF Preset, ensure that [High Quality Print] is selected. Also the range of check boxes such as Preserve Illustrator Editiing Capabilities should be checked to allow us to make any alterations (if necessary).
Click the Save PDF button. This will save a PDF copy of your roller banner artwork and that will be the file you send to us for printing!
That's it for today, stay tuned next week for more great tips!
